NEWS Merthyr Town FC < Back News (News-Item) Hayes & Yeading United - Match-Day Guide - Saturday 24th February 2024 23 February 2024 We welcome Hayes & Yeading United to Penydarren Park on Saturday afternoon in the Pitching IN Southern League Premier (3pm Kick Off). The Martyrs will be looking to get out of a sticky run of form, and hopefully further cement a play-off position, as the season end closes in. All the information below, including admission prices, keeps you in the know for all the events happening around the ground on Saturday afternoon. Arriving at Penydarren Park The gates at PP will be open from 12:30 – two hours and a half before kick-off against Hayes & Yeading. Supporters are encouraged to arrive in good time, to enter the ground as easily as possible, and arrive ahead of kick-off at 3pm. Cash and Card payments are now being accepted on the Turnstiles at the entrance to the Lyn Jones Grandstand. Admission Prices Adults - £12 Concessions - £9 Discounted Price - £9 (Included for season ticket holders of Cardiff City, Swansea City, Newport County and Wrexham) Children (U16) - £2 Calling all Welsh EFL Club fans don’t forget that you get the reduced entry of £9 into any Martyrs home league games, on production of a valid 2023/24 Season Ticket for Cardiff City, Swansea City, Newport or Wrexham. There are no pre-sale tickets for the game with all payments ONLY on the gate. However, card payment are now accepted on Lyn Jones Grandstand Turnstiles, as well as cash payments. Car Parking Limited parking at the ground will be available and the car park will probably be closed early, so please respect the local residents and find a convenient parking space in the town centre car park or College car park both just a few minutes’ walk from the ground. Bar & Food Facilities Before kick-off tomorrow, you can purchase a range of drinks from both of the club’s bars. Both Romans Bar and Webley’s will be open from 12.30pm. Be sure to take note of the flyers that will be on the tables to see the upcoming events at Merthyr Town Football Club and all the info on how to book your places. Holveys Café will be open from 2pm serving hot food, including the famous cob and chips. Live on TV There will be full coverage of the Six Nations clash between Ireland -v- Wales at 14:15, followed by the game between Scotland -v- England which kicks off at 16:45. We will also be showing live scores and results in Romans Bar and Webley’s Bar throughout the day also. Club Shop Pay a visit to the ‘Merthyr Town Club Shop’ and purchase our replica kits, leisurewear and accessories. The store will be opening its doors from 2pm, giving Martyr’s fans plenty of time to visit before entering PP! 50/50 Tickets & Match-day Programme Our usual 50/50 tickets will be available to purchase around the ground on Saturday at just £1. The draw will be made at half-time, with the winner being announced by our matchday announcer. Pick up a copy of our match-day programme on Saturday at just £2. The programmes will be on sale around the ground prior to kick-off. Hayes & Yeading United – One To Watch Hayes & Yeading captain in their last four games, Cole Brown is a versatile and pacey full back, that has had experience at National League clubs including Bishops Stortford and Hampton & Richmond Borough. Cole has made close to 150 appearances for Hayes & Yeading and will be one to keep an eye on come Saturday. Form Guide Merthyr Town – L W L L L Hayes & Yeading United – W W W L L The Martyrs are currently sitting 4th in the League table, whereas Hayes & Yeading have risen up to 14th in the league after some positive results in their last five, which lifted them away from the relegation zone. Previous Result Earlier this season, The Martyrs travelled to Hayes & Yeading in late October where both teams came away with a point, after an early penalty for the home team scored by former Southend United and Dartford striker, Norman Wabo. The Martyrs drew level thanks to a strong header from Liam Angel. Mascots & Bucket Collection We welcome the children from Georgetown Boys & Girls Club Under 9s and Under 12s who are our matchday mascots and flag bearers for Saturday’s game and will be leading the Martyrs out at Penydarren Park ahead of the game. Also, the children from Caedraw Primary School will be around the ground on Saturday holding a bucket collection, to help raise funds for their school sports department. We are looking to run a supporters bus to; 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 Friday 7th April 2023 - 15:00 Kick Off Bus would leave Merthyr Tydfil at 10:00 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗲 Saturday 15th April 2023 - 15:00 Kick Off Bus would leave Merthyr Tydfil at 11:00 For both of the above fixtures, the supporters bus would be leaving from The Castle Hotel, Merthyr Tydfil (times to be confirmed), and the bus will be returning from the fixture at approximately 17:30 and heading straight back to Merthyr. We are trying to get an idea on numbers so we can potentially look at running a supporters coach and covering the cost.
