DIY installation

I’m fairly handy and have done basic cabinetry and wiring before, but this feels like one of those projects that can go sideways fast if you mess up early. The plan is to hide the TV inside a custom cabinet, but I’m worried about alignment and making sure everything moves smoothly. For people who’ve actually done it solo, was it manageable or did you wish you’d called for help?

I installed one on my own last year, and I’d say it’s very doable if you’re patient and measure everything twice. The mechanical part was easier than I expected, but positioning and leveling took time. What helped me was understanding how different tv lift mechanisms are mounted and how much clearance they need. I spent a lot of time browsing https://www.progressiveautomations.com/en-eu/collections/tv-lifts to get a sense of sizes, mounting styles, and load ratings before committing. Wiring was straightforward, but having an extra pair of hands during the final mounting would’ve saved me some stress.
