NEWS Merthyr Town FC < Back News (News-Title) New signing – Welcome Kai Churchley 11 June 2025 Kai Churchley signs! Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of exciting forward, Kai Churchley, on conclusion of his contract with Bristol City subject to National League approval and International Clearance. Kai joins the Martyrs following the conclusion of his contract at EFL Championship side Bristol City, in which he played a key role in the Robins' successful Under-21s team in the Professional Development League Two. During his time at Bristol City, Churchley also had loan spells with Gloucester City during their National League North campaign in 2023/24, before then having a spell with Tiverton Town in the Southern League Premier South during the 2024/25 season. Kai now joins Paul Michael’s squad ahead of the exciting National League North campaign ahead. Speaking on the signing, Paul Michael said “ Kai is a very technically gifted player who’s had an excellent 4 year spell (2 years scholar and 2 years pro) with Bristol City, he’s proven himself to be a very good finisher and a player who can contribute to creating goals too. Kai can play anywhere across our front 3 and I believe he has the characteristics to fit very well into the way we play. Kai’s an exciting young player and although his loans haven’t set the world alight, I believe that the situation each of those clubs found themselves in each season played a significant role in that. He would’ve learned a lot from those situations and in our environment I believe we’ve picked a player that will really thrive, I can’t wait to see him out there in a Merthyr Town shirt. ” Previous Next
