Brandon Smalley signs!

Merthyr Town Football Club are excited to announce the signing of forward, Brandon Smalley from Gloucester City, subject to National League approval and International Clearance.

Smalley, 27, has enjoyed spells with Bromsgrove Sporting, Yate Town, Evesham United and several seasons playing in the USA, before returning to the UK and spending the last two seasons at Gloucester City. Brandon gained National League North experience with Gloucester in the 2023/24 campaign making 38 appearances in the league and scoring 9 goals. Last season, Brandon then played his role in helping the Southern League Premier South side reach the play-off final, where they would lose out narrowly to AFC Totton.

On securing Brandon’s signature, Martyrs boss Paul Michael said, “Brandon had an excellent season in the National League North in a struggling team the season before last and I believe his pace, technical ability and finishing will be a real asset for our squad heading into that level this season.

When I saw Brandon had become available, we were surprised, and we are delighted to have beaten off some strong competition for his signature. Brandon is athletic and he is in great physical condition, which suits the way we want to play, and he is also an experienced player now too, and I am really looking forward to working with him.”
