Swindon Supermarine (Away) Match Report
29 August 2023

Although these are still very early days, it's been an excellent month with six consecutive victories. However, nothing is decided in August and there will be plenty of twists & turns in the months ahead.
The top versus bottom Club clash only went one way after the visitors started at a very high tempo. Taking the game to the hosts and playing on the front foot the opening twenty minutes saw an exciting exchange of passing football of the very highest standard in a near perfect start.
Supermarine's inauspicious opening few weeks of the season was compounded by the relentless bombardment, as the Martyrs poured forward seeking the opening goal. The travelling fans didn't have very long to wait as Tom Handley bent the ball into the bottom corner after just four minutes.
Ollie Mahew added a second soon after finding the top corner from the edge of the penalty area with precision accuracy.
The Martyrs were now in a completely dominant mood and when Ricardo Rees was fouled in the penalty area he picked himself up to make no mistake from the spot kick, to score his eighth goal of the season.
With the game twenty minutes old the Martyrs had stormed into a three goal lead. By the time the game reached half time the possession statistics were heavily weighted in favour of the Martyrs.
It was a case of damage limitation for Supermarine in the second half which they accomplished, although the game as a contest was already over. The only significant incident in the second half was the dismissal of Callum Ryan-Phillips for a second bootable offence in the 90th minute.
