Mini Football Festival 2023

The initial day of the Mini Football Festival took place under an azure blue sky with the sun burning brightly.
It was an early start to set up and lay out the pitches for the Under 7’s and 9’s, but as 10am rolled around everything was ready with six games taking place simultaneously throughout the morning.
The Under 7’s event contained of 14 teams teams from Llwydcoed, Georgetown, AFC Tredegar, Red Lion, Ystrad Mynach, Llangeinor and Ponypridd. While the Under 9’s event saw 13 teams including Penrhiwceiber, Gadlys Rovers, Llwydcoed, Llantwit Fadre, AFC Tredegar and Cascade take part.
Ice cold drinks and ice-cream was the order of the day, with Hot food, tea & coffee also available for the large number of family members who were in attendance.
The change over at lunch time prior to the Under 11’s event in the afternoon went smoothly with grassroots club’s representing Georgetown, AFC Tredegar, Ystrad Mynach, Penrhiwceiber, Tredegar Town, Red Lion, Llangeinor and Treharris all enjoying the event.
Medals were presented to the teams by Club Chairman, Les Barlow.
The Club would like to thank all of the grassroots clubs that supported the event and the volunteers for their invaluable help on the day. With special thanks to Friends of Merthyr for their support of yet another successful festival.
