Merthyr Town Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Lewis Powell from Larkhall Athletic, subject to international clearance.

The striker joins the club after a most recent spell in the Southern League Division One, where he has scoped up the golden boot award for two seasons on the Trott.

A proven goal-scorer within the Southern League and Southern League Division One, Lewis is a man who needs no introduction to his new club and has already chalked up 12 goals in 16 appearances so far this season.

Powell started his career at Swansea City FC before joining Bristol Rovers in 2006. Following his release from the Memorial Ground, he went onto feature for a variety of non-league clubs, including, Chippenham Town, Taunton Town, Weston-Super-Mare and Evesham United. All those spells accumulated in himself making over 500 Southern League appearances.

After putting pen-to-paper, Lewis told www.merthyrtownfc.co.uk: “I’m pleased to get the deal done as it’s been going on for a while now.

“I’ve got a lot of experience in the Southern League which is a tough and demanding division, so hopefully I can help the club push up the league.

“Merthyr is a massive club. The main ambition for me is to try and help the club as much as I can and hopefully get back up the league where the club should be. “

Everyone at the club wishes Lewis well in his new chapter at the Football Club.
