News:

Merthyr Town Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former Swansea City and Newport County midfielder Jack Evans.

Evans joined the Martyrs at the back end of last season and made an immediate impact in the team. Now, he ventures back to the MetCoaches Stadium for another season, this time under the guidance of Paul Michael.

The midfielder, who progressed through Swansea’s academy ranks after joining the club when he was eight, made a remarkable return to playing in 2019 following a battle against cancer.

He then made his senior debut for the Swans in August 2019 when he came on in their 6-0 victory over Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup, before joining Sky Bet League Two side Mansfield Town later in the campaign.

Evans spent the first half of the 2019/20 season on loan at Cypriot First Division outfit Pafos, where he made two league appearances. Following his return to the UK, he then joined Newport County, in a bid to add to the Exiles’ promotion hopes.

Jack will be available for tomorrow nights league game against Tiverton Town at the MetCoaches Stadium.
