Merthyr Town Football Club can confirm the departure of goalkeeper Lewis Webb to Swansea City Football Club ahead of the 2019/20 season.

17-year-old Webb made 17 appearances last season picking up several clean sheets as well as cementing some superb goalkeeping performances in Merthyr’s Southern Premier League campaign.

Lewis’ displays at club level for the Martyrs quickly attracted the attention of Wales which has led him onto receiving several welsh call ups to the national teams U18s and U19s squad. Since then the academy product has become a Welsh School International.

Speaking on Webbs departure, Manager Gavin Williams said “I would like to wish Webby all the best in his career. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The commitment and dedication he has shown since coming into the first team squad to cover us has been absolutely tremendous and I can’t speak highly enough of him”.

Also adding onto Webbs departure was chairman Jonathan Davies: “Everyone at the club cannot speak highly enough of Lewis, not just as a footballer but also as a person. His development is also great testament to the work our coaches have done in nurturing his talent since he arrived at our academy. We look forward to monitoring his development at Swansea City".

Everyone at Merthyr Town Football Club would like to thank Lewis for his service to the club and wish him well in his career for both club and country.
