Worksop (A) Match Preview
8 January 2026

It's another matchday in the relentless Enterprise National League North and it's time for the Martyrs to travel to Worksop Town FC for matchday 26. Paul Micheal’s side travel Worksop on an excellent run of form with the Martyrs winning 3 of their last 4 fixtures with the most recent result coming with a narrow 1-0 victory over King’s Lynn Town following a fantastic solo goal from Kieran Evans. The hosts Worksop Town FC also enter this fixture on a good run of form as they have picked up 7 points from a possible 12 in their last 4 fixtures. Most recently Worksop had a happy away trip to Chester as they ran out 1-0 victors following a first half strike from attacker Aaron Martin and Worksop fans will be hoping that their striker can help Worksop pick up more valuable points this weekend.
Previous Encounters:
The Martyrs have only clashed with Worksop once in recent times in which the Martyrs were victorious. The clash took place at Penydarren Park during the beginning of this season in which striker Ricardo Rees bagged a brace to secure the all-important 3 points for Paul Micheal’s side in a 2-0 home victory.

Chairman | Peter Whitehead
Manager | Craig Parry
Assistant Manager | Luke Jeffs
Peter Whitehead took over Worksop in 2020 when the club found themselves in financial trouble and needed someone to save the club from liquidation. Since his arrival to the club, they have changed massively with improvements to the pitch, clubhouse, changing rooms and stands which has aided Worksop to rise back to the seventh tier of English football. However, Whitehead confirmed that he will be standing down from his roles as chairman and director of the club at some point before the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Manger, Craig Parry was a goalkeeper for multiple clubs including the likes of Barnsley and Halifax Town. His first managerial role was as the first team manager at Pontefract Collieries where he guided them to back-to-back promotions to the NPL Southeast (step 4) and was agonizingly close to a third promotion but lost in a playoff final to Brighouse Town. Parry took the helm at the Tigers in May 2020. He guided them to a record-breaking season by winning the NPL East for the Tigers. A season later in the NPL Premier Division, Craig Parry's side achieved a playoff finish but lost to Macclesfield in the semi-final. In the following season Parry completed the double with Worksop by gaining promotion to the National League North through the playoffs and winning the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.
Luke Jeffs was a defender during his playing career playing for Frickley Athletic, Goole, AFC Mansfield and Pontefract Collieries under Craig Parry. Jeffs later became a player coach for Pontefract Collieries. Jeffs started as head coach but now is Craig Parry's assistant at Worksop Town following the departure of Craig Rouse.
KNOW YOU OPPONENT | SEASON SO FAR
Since the reverse fixture Worksop Town have had a disappointing season which now sees them sitting in 16th place. Their first league fixture after defeat at Penydarren Park came away at Hereford, but Craig Parry’s side were defeated 2-1. With Worksop hoping to bounce back, they hosted Bedford FC, but that fixture once again ended in defeat as goals from Tyrone Marsh and Edward Gyamfi were enough for the visitors to claim all 3 points. However, Craig Parry’s side managed to stop their rotten run of form as they travelled to AFC Fylde and 3 second half goals were enough to win 3-2 away and pick up some valuable points. Despite this, Worksop Town had to wait 4 more games for their next victory as they lost against Marine and Telford while drawing with King’s Lynn Town. Their win came against Scarborough at home in a tight 1-0 win following a late goal from attacker Liam Hughes. Worksop couldn’t use the momentum of this victory to spark a good run of form as the side went on to lose their next 4 league games. In their previous 6 league games however the club’s form has started to look a lot better as the side has managed to pick up 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 6 games with the wins coming against Leamington, Alfreton Town and in their last fixture Chester FC which put the club in 16th position. The top goalscorer for Worksop in their season so far is attacker Aaron Martin who has scored 9 goals so far.
