Please do not bring pyrotechnics to the game

Following our eagerly-anticipated and long-awaited return to the National League, we have to bring to the attention of any fans in attendance that the use of flares (also known as a pyrotechnic) is prohibited and appropriate action will be taken against anyone who decides to ignore this warning.

When any perpetrators are identified they will be dealt with by our security staff - which includes being ejected from the ground - the Board would implore fans not to bring or set off such items at Penydarren Park; or indeed, at any football ground. To be blunt: the use of these devices is illegal - as highlighted on the club website in this article (adapted by kind permission of the FSA). https://www.merthyrtownfc.co.uk/please-keep-off-the-pitch.

As we enter this new campaign, we would like to remind supporters that backing the club in a respectful and mindful manner is at the utmost desire of us all at the club and the Trust. So, whilst we are sure the intent of such smoke bombs was one of a celebratory nature, in addition to the legal ramifications, their use also poses a danger to fellow fans.

The use of pyrotechnics, as well as throwing missiles (including streamers) and inappropriate behaviour & chanting can all result in the club being held liable by the FAW. Indeed, the club has recently been fined for the use of these pyros at our previously games - money that would be far better spent on the team. Further incidents could result in additional sanctions - not just financial penalties, but the possibility of point deductions.

The Club works closely with local authorities and South Wales Police to maintain a safe matchday environment.

Please kick it out. Football is for everyone.
