Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of forward, Morgan Wigley on a deal until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The Welsh forward, joins following the expiration of his contract at Cardiff City, and Wigley arrives at Penydarren Park with experience across the front line. Primarily regarded as a winger, he has also been noted for his versatility as a striker. The pacey-forward progressed through the Cardiff City Academy setup, beginning his journey with the Club at the age of just seven. Having then impressed at U18 and U21 level, Wigley signed his first professional contract with the Bluebirds in July 2023, under the management of Erol Bulut.

Morgan, 21, spent the first part of the 2025/26 season on loan at JD Cymru Premier side, Barry Town United before then returning to Cardiff City U21’s in January 2026.

Having added Morgan to the squad at Penydarren Park, Paul Michael said “Morgan has elite level pace, an excellent touch and is a good finisher. He’s also versatile and can play across the front 3, he’s been a pro at Cardiff for 3 years and although his loan didn’t set the world alight last season I believe he has all the qualities to succeed beyond this level, you only need to look at his performances for Cardiff City under 21’s last pre-season against ourselves and Yeovil to see his frightening potential and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Wigley’s arrival adds another exciting option to the new-look forward line and provides further excitement for Martyrs supporters as we look forward to the 2026/27 Enterprise National League North Campaign.
