Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Lloyd Humphries from National League side Eastleigh FC ahead of the 2026/27 season, subject to International Clearance.

The 28-year-old arrives at Penydarren Park with valuable experience across the National League system and adds further quality, versatility and composure to Paul Michael’s squad as the Martyrs prepare for another competitive campaign in the Enterprise National League North.

Humphries joined Eastleigh in July 2024 and has featured primarily at the heart of defence. A former Wales youth international, he brings a strong pedigree and physicality, tactical intelligence and a calm presence in possession.

Prior to joining Eastleigh, Lloyd spent five seasons at Weston Super Mare, where he won the Seagulls Player of the Year in 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, and played every single minute for them in the latter of the two campaigns.

Speaking after completing the move, Humphries said: “I’m really pleased to be joining Merthyr Town. It’s a club with a huge non-league history, a vocal fanbase and has an exciting feel to it with the squad that is currently here. I’m looking forward to meeting the lads tomorrow, getting straight into training ahead of the season starting this Saturday.”

Manager Paul Michael added: “Lloyd is exactly the type of player we wanted to bring in. He has experience across the National League and National League South, understands the demands of this level and gives us further options in defence. His versatility and professionalism will only add to our group. Lloyd’s versatility of playing in midfield will also add to our options, and with Lee Lucas unavailable for a spell in August and Callum Ryan-Phillips absent through injury, Lloyd’s experience and versatility will be perfect for our squad.”
