Lewys Returns

Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Lewys Twamley from National League side Yeovil Town, subject to National League approval and International Clearance.

Lewys rejoins the Martyrs after moving to Huish Park in January 2025, following his impressive 15 goals in 21 games at the start of the Martyrs title-winning campaign last season. Since moving to the National League side, game time has become limited for Lewys, only making 9 appearances at the back end of the 2024/25 season, and he mutually ended his time with Yeovil earlier this week.

Speaking on bringing Lewys back to Penydarren Park, Paul Michael said, “We are delighted to be able to bring Lewys back to Merthyr Town following his agreement to leave Yeovil this week. For whatever reason, that move didn’t work out and I am over the moon to be able to put Lewys back in our dressing room with our special group of players, and in an environment in which he will thrive.

We know Lewys’ present areas to develop and we will work with him to allow him, so that he continues to improve weekly, however we also know what an outstanding attacking talent he is. We undoubtedly missed him when he left in January but other players stepped up to fill the void, and the challenge now for Lewys is to come back in and pick up where he left off 6 months ago but at the next level up, together with rest of this special group of players.”.

Catch Lewys back in action in the Martyrs shirt this Friday evening as we face Cardiff City U21’s at Penydarren Park – 19:30 Kick-Off.
