Keiran Evans agrees terms ahead of 2023/24 season

Merthyr Town Football Club is delighted to announce that Keiran Evans has agreed terms to return ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The attacking midfielder has registered 45 appearances for the Martyrs since joining in November 2021, scoring seven goals. Last season, Evans featured 26 times for Paul Michael’s side which included just two substitute appearances as he was part of the side that reached the FA Cup First Round for the first time since 2005.
Evans joined the club from National League North side Gloucester City prior to a long stint at Swansea City AFC where he was on the books of the Swans from the age of six, signing his first professional contract in April 2016.
He progressed through to the Under-23s and made one first-team appearance from the bench in the EFL Trophy against Charlton Athletic in November 2018.
Evans was also part of the Wales squad that lifted the FA Victory Shield in 2014 - the first time in 66 years and he has also represented his country at Under-19 level.
Speaking after his signature was confirmed, manager Paul Michael said: “Keiran is a special player and we were of course desperate to keep him this summer. He didn’t play anywhere near enough last season but much of that was due to completely missing pre-season, that meant his conditioning never got to where it needed to be and he kept picking up injuries.
“A full pre-season this year after a strong off-season programme and can you imagine the effect he’s going to have if he’s able to play for more than 55-60 minutes for 2/3 games here and there, I’m expecting a huge impact from Keiran this season.”
