Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of Kane Simpson from Frome Town ahead of the 2024/25 season, which is subject to FAW approval and International Clearance.

The front man, 28, has been a proven goal scorer throughout his non-league career with spells at Paulton Rovers, Evesham United, Swindon Supermarine, Tiverton Town and Frome Town. After returning to Frome Town for a second spell in November 2023, Kane went on to score 18 goals, which helped the Robins win promotion to the Southern League Premier Division via the play-offs, defeating Bristol Manor Farm in the final - in total Kane scored 57 goals for Frome Town over two spells.

On completing the signing of Kane, Paul Michael said “I have been interested in signing Kane many times previously and had a real good go at 

capturing his signature when I was at Yate, but I am now delighted that he has agreed to join us at Merthyr Town for the 2024/25 season.

Kane has an excellent goalscoring record and he has also got a bit of everything you want in a striker. He’s tall, athletic, technically very good, a good finisher who gets into great goalscoring areas, but he also brings other players into play, and I think he will not only compliment the other players around him, but also improve us as a team.”

Kane had the following to say on joining the Martyrs, “Merthyr is a massive club with a huge history and play football the right way. When a club of this size comes in for you, it’s a bit of a no-brainer that you go across and join.”
