Jake Dennis - loan signing
13 February 2026

Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper, Jake Dennis on a short-term loan from Cardiff City until 30th March 2026.
Goalkeeper Dennis, 21, who joined Cardiff City’s Academy at eight years old, links up with the Martyrs squad ahead of tomorrow’s match against Bedford Town. The shot-stopper has spent his career at Cardiff City, being the Bluebirds number one across U18s and U21s football. After impressing at youth level, Jake has featured several times in the Cardiff City first-team squad.
Jake spent time at Gloucester City on loan in the 2023/24 season, while they were in the National League North, and spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Oldham Athletic. Jake has also represented Wales at U19 level.
Speaking on Jake’s signing and the recent transfer activity with Cardiff City, Paul Michael said: "I just want to say a big thank you to Gavin Chestefield and Cardiff City Football Club for their support over the last couple of weeks. There were special circumstances surrounding Will Spiers’ return to us which required a fair bit of work by Cardiff and was out of the ordinary.
Likewise, since we’ve assessed Jaimie Cogman since Wednesday, they have moved quickly to allow Jake to join us ahead of tomorrow's game. So, all together they’ve been fantastic with us over the last couple of weeks, so a big thank you from myself and us all at Merthyr Town Football Club.”
Jake goes straight into tomorrow’s squad against Bedford Town at Penydarren Park.
Welcome Jake!
