Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Elis Watts from Gloucester City on a deal that runs until June 2027.

Watts arrives at Penydarren Park with valuable experience across the non-league game, having represented clubs including Newport County, Aldershot Town, Farnborough, Weston-super-Mare, Hungerford Town and Gloucester City. The 24-year-old has built a reputation as a versatile player, capable of playing across the front three or in an advanced midfield role, always contributing energy, quality and attacking threat on the pitch.

Elis’ addition once again adds to the already impressive attacking options the club have recruited this summer, and speaking on adding Elis to his attack, Paul Michael said “Elis is a player we’ve admired for a very long time. Previously we’ve not been in a position to make the move happen, so we’re delighted to finally be able to work with him. Elis is technically excellent and suits the way we want to play, he wants the ball, wants to attack, wants to excite supporters, he can take the ball in tight spaces, he can create and score goals, some of the goals he’s scored down the years have been unreal and I know the supporters will be looking forward to him scoring those goals in the white of Merthyr Town here at Penydarren Park. Elis has been consistently one of the very best players at step 3 nationally and no one will be in any doubt that his quality will improve us next season.
