Jacob Maddox signs!
2 February 2026

Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Jacob Maddox from Yeovil Town until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Jacob, 27 – who can play in midfield or as a 10 - came through the youth system at Chelsea and spent three seasons at the club, during which he enjoyed loan spells in the EFL with Cheltenham Town, Tranmere Rovers and Southampton. During his season on loan at Cheltenham Town, he featured 38 times in their Sky Bet League Two campaign. Maddox then left Chelsea in the summer of 2020 as he joined Portugese Primeira Liga side, Vitória de Guimarães on a four-year contract. Since 2021, Maddox has had loan spells back in the EFL with Burton Albion, Walsall and Forest Green Rovers, before then joining Forest Green on a permanent deal in 2023. The midfielder then joined Yeovil Town from Forest Green Rovers in January 2025, where after a lengthy injury he has made 5 appearances for the Glovers in the National League so far this season. With over 100 senior appearances across the EFL, Maddox will be sure to bring some experience to Paul Michael’s squad.
Maddox has been a youth international for England, up to under-20 level. In June 2017, he was selected to represent England at the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Georgia, and was part of the tournament winning squad as England beat Portugal in the final.
We would like to thank Yeovil Town for their assistance in the trasnfer, and we look forward to welcoming Jacob to Penydarren Park this Saturday.
