Tom Hillman departs Merthyr Town

Merthyr Town Football Club can confirm that Thomas Hillman has departed the club.

Hillman made a total of 36 appearances for the Martyrs across two spells, scoring 4 goals. After first featuring for the Martyrs in the 2021/22 season under Dean Clarke, a young Hillman featured in the majority of the first half of that season, 26 appearances and scoring 2 goals, before joining Cymru South side, Llanelli Town in January 2022. After spending just under 18 months with the West Wales side, Paul Michael brought Tom back to Penydarren Park in July 2023. Tom has made 10 appearances for the Martyrs in the 2023/24 season, scoring 2 goals, including the winner away at Didcot Town earlier on this season.

Speaking on Tom’s departure, Paul Michael said: "I would like to thank Tom for returning to the club in the summer. We were both very excited in the summer and I am sorry that it hasn’t worked out as either of us had hoped. An ankle injury and a couple of in-season breaks have had an impact and whilst I know Tom has the talent to play here, it is clear to see that Tom just needs to be playing to be happy at this point in time, and we wish him all the best for the future.

Everyone at Merthyr Town Football Club would like to wish Tom all the very best in his next move and thank him for his services during his time at Merthyr Town Football Club.
