Academy Weekend Update

Academy Weekend Update

It was certainly a learning experience for the Academy age groups last weekend, as all teams lost in close encounters. The Under 12's travelled to Barry Town United and conceded two second half goals to lose 2-0.

After taking an early lead through Alfie Keepin against Cambrian Under 15's at Penydarren Park, a Dylan Llewellyn goal early in the second half managed to reduce the deficit to a single goal . However, Cambrian quickly restored their two goal advantage before Alfie Keepin grabbed his second of the afternoon to bring the score back to 3-4, with the next goa crucial unfortunately it was the visitors who scored a fifth in the closing stages to win this eight goal thriller.

The Under 16's went into the half time interval trailing 1-0 before Hadley Davies scored the equaliser from close range. After Cambrian regained the lead, a quick free kick from the edge of the penalty area caught the Martyrs defence totally unprepared to give Cambrian a two goal advantage prior to Oliver Bourne's stunner from distance to make the final score 3-2 to the visitors.

In the Cymru Premier Development game a solitary first half goal for Cambrian was enough to take all three points back to the Rhondda, as they were able to eventually see out the game after late pressure from the home side failed to produce the equaliser.
