Match Report:
Progress was made to the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy with this win over Dorchester Town, who were also beaten 3-2 on the opening day of the season at Penydarren Park.
After just 30 seconds Ricardo Rees only had Lloyd Thomas to beat but his shot was saved in a one-on-one tussle.
Lewys Twamley gave the Martyrs a lead after 12 minutes when he picked up a loose ball outside the penalty area, beat a defender and then found the bottom corner with an accurate strike.
Unfortunately the lead didn’t last long, as Leighton Thomas was given far to much freedom to blast the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
With the scores still level Dorchester struck the post through Jordan Ngalo before Lloyd Thomas could only parry a Tom Handley effort on 54 minutes, into the path of Tom Hillman who made no mistake firing his shot into the far corner.
As the Martyrs pushed forward seeking a third goal Will Spetch was guilty of pulling back Frazer Thomas and the referee determined that he was the last man and showed the former Poole Town player a straight red card.
With the extra man the Martyrs exploited the space available to put the game beyond the visitors on 90 minutes. Olly Mehew cut inside from the left channel and his effort squirmed under the body of Thomas to seal the win.
