What to pack for a yacht

I’m usually the type who overpacks, but for a yacht trip I feel like that might backfire. Space is limited, and I don’t want to bring a bunch of stuff that just ends up in the way. At the same time, I’m worried about forgetting something essential that’s hard to replace once you’re out on the water. For those who’ve done this before, what items turned out to be truly useful and what did you realize you didn’t need at all?

From my experience, less really is more. Soft bags instead of suitcases make life easier, and lightweight clothing you can layer is key. Sun protection is a must — hats, reef-safe sunscreen, and good sunglasses get used constantly. I also brought water shoes, which ended up being surprisingly helpful. While planning, I checked Charterclick in Seychelles to get a sense of how days usually flow, and that helped me pack smarter for personalized yacht cruises. Most boats are well equipped, so personal comfort items matter more than gear.
