Merthyr Town Football Club would like to thank the University of South Wales and the USW Sports Park for the use of the state of the art facilities over the last few weeks.

Their brand new full size indoor pitch is what the Martyrs have been using for the past couple of training sessions! This incredible FIFA 2-star pitch - one of three in the UK run by universities and the only one in Wales - meets all the requirements of the B license for football coaching which is embedded into the football courses delivered at USW. The pitch has a shock pad underneath so it will play better, last longer and provide a safer playing environment.

Speaking after training on Thursday evening, first team manager, Gavin Williams said, “Our thanks goes to everyone at USW for allowing us to use this incredible facility ahead of a busy month or so, which includes a number of midweek fixtures. The indoor aspect of the facility allows us to get out of the bad weather and still work on what we need in order to be prepared for the upcoming fixtures. As you have seen this evening, the players enjoy the experience of training down here, and it allows us to that extra bit more progressional as a football club also.”

The players and management staff have really made use of the fantastic facilities provided and Merthyr Town Football Club would like to echo their thanks to USW. This could hopefully be the beginning of a partnership between Merthyr Town Football Club and the University of South Wales.”
