Merthyr Town F.C. Academy

To all our players and parents or guardians,

We hope you are all keeping safe and well during the current situation we all find ourselves in. Although we are all missing sport, and football in particular, the biggest priority is for us all to follow the advice and instructions set out by the Welsh Assembly Government, to stay safe and well. The more we follow this advice the sooner decisions can be made when football can return.

At present the Football Association of Wales has not yet made a decision regarding the current season in respect of the Welsh Premier League and the Cymru South and North and other feeder leagues. Until this is resolved, Academy and local junior leagues for NEXT season cannot begin, and no start date can be considered. No decisions can be made until authorised by the Welsh Assembly Government. As far as our Academy application is concerned we have been working hard over the past few months , and our application is ready to be submitted, but again there is no date available for this submission.

We hope that all our players are, firstly and most importantly continuing to carry on with their schoolwork as much as possible. As far as football is concerned this is an ideal opportunity for the lads to practice with a football on an individual basis. Practices can include the following ; dribbling in between cones, keep ups, step - overs , drag-backs, Cruyff and Zidane turns and ball striking against a wall (where possible). There are many examples of these, and other skills on YOUTUBE. Please use this time wisely so that you are not left behind when we do return to training and playing. Parents please encourage the lads to do this PLEASE !!.

Best wishes,

Academy Manager

Phil Llewellyn
