On Saturday Gavin Williams’ men will take on FC Abercwmboi at the Met Coaches Stadium in an Alzheimer's Charity Match.
Merthyr Town FC Supporters will be walking the 6.3-mile trip from Abercwmboi back to Merthyr Town Football Club ahead of the game. All walkers will meet at the Met Coaches Stadium at (9.30AM) WHERE TRANSPORT WILL BE PROVIDED FOR WALKERS OVER TO THE WALK START POINT AT ABERCWMBOI FC for (10AM) start. The walk is open to all Merthyr Town supporters to participate in, raising funds for a fantastic cause. Furthermore, Two Merthyr Town FC academy teams will take on two Abercwmboi teams in order to raise additional funds for the charity from 12.30pm prior to the game at 3pm.
The match is to raise funds for Alzhemier's Charity in memory of the Martyrs’ former manager Lyn Jones. He transformed the football club in the late eighties when Merthyr were the best non-league team in Wales and maybe in the UK. In addition to that, the match will be also for Anthony Jenkins Snr who sadly passed away from the illness & Danny Evans who is a popular figure around Local Football within the borough and Cynon Valley also sadly passed away recently, all three men will be remembered within the fixture.
To round of a fantastic day Bryony Sier will be performing live in Romans between 6.30pm and 7.30pm - Fresh from her excellent recent appearance at the Merthyr Rising festival. We could like to thank Bryony for agreeing to perform at our charity event.
