Merthyr Town captain Ashley Evans says he and his team are raring to go ahead of Saturday's BetVictor Southern League Premier South curtain-raiser against Harrow Borough.
Excitement levels have been building throughout pre-season and Evans admits he is pleased that the start of the campaign has arrived after many weeks of preparation.
Speaking ahead of the game he said: "I'm really excited ahead of the big kick off on Saturday. Everyone is very eager to start the campaign on the front foot after a tough pre-season schedule as we all hope that the hard work pays off with a big 3 points”.
"Obviously in this league every game a tough challenge especially as Harrow will a good outfit. It won’t be easy up there as we have to go up there once a season so why not be the first game of the season”.
Evans continued by saying: “We will approach the game like any other with the same preparation and training. The gaffa will obviously have a game plan which we must stick to, and of course with a good performance you stand a better chance of achieving a positive result so that is what we are setting out to do".
Finally, He added: “Winning is everything, and a win Saturday would stand us in good stead ahead of another massive game on Tuesday against rivals Weston-Super-Mare".
