The Merthyr Town fans walk for Brain Tumour Research charity

The annual Merthyr Town Fans Walk will take place on Saturday morning and this year the supporters will be raising funds for Brain Tumour Research.

The walk will start at Nye Bevan Memorial Stones in Sirhowy, Tredegar at 09:00 hours and will follow a route viaCharles Street, Bryn Bach Park, Rhymney, Asda Superstore, Pant (there’ll be the traditional pint for the walkers waiting at the Pant Cad Ifor Inn) and then down into Merthyr Tydfil town centre to reach their goal at Penydarren Park.

The walkers will be wearing the charity’s branded pink t-shirts en route to Merthyr Town FC and will also have collection buckets ready for fans attending the Brian Lomax FSA Cup Final against City of Liverpool FC at the ground from 3pm on Saturday too.

Inspiration for the choice of charity was provided by Darryl Claypole from Carlton Town FC who is also raising money with a virtual cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge. Any monies raised by Merthyr Town fans will be donated to Darryl’s fundraiser via the following link:

Charles Street in Tredegar is the birthplace of Aneurin Bevan so we will also celebrate the creation of the NHS as part of our walk.

All Merthyr Town fans are invited to participate in the walk, whether for all or part of the journey. Volunteers are also sought to provide transport and support to the walkers on Saturday.
