Well next week we can open the gates at the bottom of the drive and at long last welcome everyone back to the MetCoaches Community Stadium, before starting to serve drinks to customers seated at tables in the upgraded Beer Garden – we cannot wait, and if anyone is able to come along from 5.00pm on Monday to join us in celebrating the occasion, please do. This feels like a first step back towards some form of normality, but we will still be complying with all of the social distancing regulations so that everyone is safe when they are on the premises.
Officials from both South Wales Police and Merthyr Council have inspected the facilities and passed all of the arrangements that have been made in order to comply with the licencing requirements and Welsh Senedd restrictions.
There will be table only service and you will need to book any tables well in advance for any weekends. For the opening weekend all of the two dozen tables have already been fully booked on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Although it still feels a long way off, Dean and Steve will already be discussing their plans for a return to training, pre-season friendlies and preparation for what we want to be a successful campaign that looks all set to start as planned (fingers crossed) in August.
There are now only 85 days to wait until the first pre-season friendly!
Off the field, we continue in our quest to promote the Club as a community hub. Bookings are now being taken for the 3G pitch as adult sporting activity returns, we are also launching our new partnership with Street Football Wales and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust next week. These will consist of drop-in sessions for anyone who has experienced being homeless in the last three years. More information will be provided as part of the media launch next week.
We are now excited at the potential of what we can achieve both on and off the field this season, so please continue your fantastic support for the Club and keep watching all of our social media channels for the ideas and programme that we have planned – or come along and join us for a drink or two on Monday after 5pm!
Once again we would like to thank all of the volunteers for the invaluable work that they are doing, please stay safe and the Board hope to welcome some of you back to the ground at some time during next week.
