The Martyrs open up their Emirates FA Cup campaign tomorrow afternoon when they face Western Toolstation league side Plymouth Parkway away from home at Bolitho Park. Merthyr will be looking to maintain their good form after two victories on the bounce both in the BetVictor Southern League Premier South against Met Police and Swindon Supermarine respectively. The Martyrs have also had a major boost ahead of the game as Elliot Richards is available for Gavin Williams’ side after his international clearance was finalised this week after his return from Hereford United.

HEAD TO HEAD

These two sides have recent FA Cup history which took place in 2015. On that day, two goals either side of half time saw The Martyrs run out 2-0 winners at Bolitho Park on that occasion. Parkway themselves reached the 2nd qualifying round last year after they eventually crashed out to National League side as Gloucester City who proved too much in a 3-1 defeat.

FROM THE PRESS BOX

Following Saturday’s victory of Met Police, we caught up with Jamie Veale to preview this week’s encounter. He said: “It’s going to be another tough game for us but we’ll prepare the same way and go up there and try and get into the next round”.
