Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of former Derby County and Rotherham United goalkeeper, Steven Cann.
Cann, aged 33, returns to the Martyrs after a brief spell during the 2018/19 season, where he made his debut in an Emirates FA Cup win over Melksham Town in the First Qualifying Round.
Despite being born in South Africa, he is qualified as a Welsh footballer and has represented his country on a number of occasions, featuring for the under-17's and 19’s intermediate teams.
The shotstopper, has also chalked up over 150 Welsh Premier league appearances during his spells with Port Talbot, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth Town.
“We’re really pleased,” said new manager Dean Clarke.
“Steve brings a wealth of experience which will only stand us in good stead come the start of this season.
“He is a great goalkeeper and I'm delighted to get this deal over the line.
“He’s a really good character and an excellent lad in how he goes about his business.”
