Merthyr Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of full back Lewis Binns ahead of the clubs Evo-Stik Southern Premier campaign.

Chepstow-born Binns is the clubs third summer signing alongside fellow Cinderford Town teammate Alex Harris and Gethyn Hill.

The 23-year-old attacking left-back has an abundance of experience in the Southern League after spells at Bishops Cleeve, Cinderford Town and a four-year spell at Evesham United. Binns also had spells with Cardiff City and League 2 Newport County as a youngster before making his move into the Evo-Stik Southern Football League.

On signing for the Martyrs, Lewis Binns said: I’m really pleased to join the football club. Gavin is a very ambitious manager which is the one of the reasons why I joined Merthyr. I’m now just really excited for the new season and to see what I can add to an already flourishing team”

After completing the deal, Manager Gavin Williams said:"Lewys is a really exciting signing and I'm delighted to welcome him to Merthyr Town Football Club. He will add great depth and quality to the squad. Left back has always been a position that has needed strengthening so to finally consolidate that position with Lewis is fantastic"
