The Martyrs have strengthened their squad with the arrival of experienced goalkeeper, Alex Harris, who arrives at The Met Coaches Stadium ahead of the clubs forthcoming season in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier.
27 year-old Harris is a two-time Southern League South & West title winner who arrives at Merthyr with a wealth of experience.
His arrival at The Martyrs sees him team up with recent summer signing, Gethyn Hill, who both enter the new season on the back of fantastic seasons with their former respective clubs.
Speaking about his new club, The Martyrs’ second summer signing said” it’s a great feeling joining Merthyr Town Football Club and being welsh myself makes it even better. I’ve always looked out for their results in the past and it’s always a game I’ve looked forward to playing in whenever we’ve played one another”.
The Welshmen then expressed his excitement about the new season by saying” after just coming off the back of a great season with Cinderford, I personally cannot wait to get stuck into the next one ahead and it’s always more exciting entering a new league season with a new club so I’m really looking forward to the new challenge that lies ahead”
Manager Gavin Williams then said “I’m delighted to welcome Alex to the football club. Alex brings a great wealth of experience to the side after the spells he’s had at the top level with the likes Hereford United, Cinderford Town and Gloucester City. I'm really looking forward to working with Alex and the rest of the squad ahead of the fast approaching season in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier".
