Merthyr Town Football Club is excited to have completed the signing of midfielder Corey Shephard (Pre-registration Agreement subject to FIFA RSTP ruling - Article 3, Paragraph 1).
Shephard joins the club from Cymru Premier side Haverfordwest AFC where he spent last season and the early proceedings of this campaign.
The midfielder joined the Bluebirds in the summer of 2020 from Cymru South side Cambrian and Clydach Vale, providing him with his first opportunity of top-flight football after impressing in the second tier.
The 23-year-old was an integral part of the midfield as Wayne Jones’ side went on to have an excellent first season back in the Cymru Premier.
Able to provide defensive cover to the back line, he was also given licence to get forward, a role he enjoyed as the Bluebirds played an entertaining brand of football throughout the 2020-21 campaign.
Undoubtedly the stand-out moment for Shephard was his strike in the famous 2-1 win over The New Saints at the Bridge Meadow Stadium back in March.
He also well known for his audacious long field strikes for his hometown club Cambrian, two of which came against Cymru Premier League sides Newtown and Penybont FC.
Now the talented midfielder, and also the son of club legend Gary Shephard, is ready for a new challenge in the Southern League Premier South, with his first eligible game being a trip to London to face off with Metropolitan Police a week Saturday.
Speaking on his new signing, manager Dean Clarke said: “I'm absolutely delighted to get this deal over the line.
"Sheppy is a player who has been on our radar for some time and it's great to finally get him here at Merthyr.
"He will be a great addition to the squad and I look forward to working with him for the rest of the season. "
