A brace of converted penalty kicks by Ian Traylor in the opening ten minutes set the tone for the remainder of the game, in incredibly hot conditions at the MetCoaches Stadium in this second pre-season friendly.
After an enforced break of 16 months without any football activity, both sets of fans basked in the warm Summer sunshine as the new look Martyrs movement off the ball was even more impressive in the energy sapping conditions.
Former Martyr Alex Long sliced his effort wide for the visitors in the 35th minute, when in a good scoring position at the far post. Tom Hillman was a threat throughout the game with his electric pace, forcing Price to make a sharp save after Hillman burst through the Penydarren defence.
Elias Youseff increased the Martyrs lead in the 52nd minute finding the bottom corner after a neat pull-back from a trialist. It was Hillman's turn next to trouble the visitors back line as he scored from close range to make it 4-0 to the Martyrs. Unmarked at the far post and reacting the quickest to convert a dangerous corner kick, central defender Ismail Yakubu added the fifth with a close range header.
The scoring blitz was concluded in the 75th minute when Youseff collected the ball just outside the penalty area to place the ball out of the reach of Price, for his second goal of the afternoon.
A young Penydarren substitute striker was denied by Steve Cann as he spread his body to make a good point blank save in the final stages of the game.
There was an eye catching performance from the pacey Connor Davies on the right hand side of a midfield four, as Cameron Keetch and Matthew Harris provided the steadying experience at the back.
