As Merthyr Town FC prepare to face Poole Town at The Black Gold Stadium, we take a closer look at the men from Dorset.

 

How’s their form?

The dolphins currently sit in 7th position however only playing 10 league games due to various involvements in cup competitions.  Poole’s home form this season has saw them pick up the most points winning 3 of their last 4 home games at the Black Gold Stadium. The Dorset based side recently progressed through the majority of Emirates FA Cup Qualifying Rounds but only to miss out on a place in Round One after a 3-2 home replay defeat to fellow Southern League outfit Hayes & Yeading in Qualifying Round 4.

 

Who’s the boss?

 

 Tom Killick - A familiar face in the Southern League, after joining the Dorset based club back in 2004.

Since then Killick has gone on to manage the club over 800 times competitively across the Southern Football League.

Kilick has won many titles with The Dolphins which include the Southern League Division 1 South & West followed by the Southern Premier League back in 2016.

The experienced manager has also won the Dorset Senior Cup 4 times over years and has won the Wessex Premier League.

 

Who are the key men?

 

Saturday’s host have already scored an exceptional amount of goals this seasons mostly coming from their trio attack in Marvin Brooks, Harry Baker and Olly Dennet who have netted over 23 goals together this campaign.

Marvin Brooks currently stands on 4 however just returning from injury. Harry Baker is the club’s leading goal scoring with 9 goals from 17 appearances, whereas Olly Dennet currently sits on 8 in 16 appearances.

 

Head to Head

 

The last time the two sides met at the Black Gold Stadium, was back in march when The Martyrs suffered a 3-1 defeat despite taking the lead after just 7 minutes through Kieran Lewis who latched onto a corner from Ben Swallow.

Merthyr however will be looking to change their fortunes this weekend when they make the long trio to Dorset.
