Merthyr’s loan central defender Ismail Yakubu is hoping that he and his side can deliver another strong performance ahead of their New Year’s Day clash With Swindon Supermarine.
The Martyrs battled out a 2-1 win against Yate Town last Thursday, thanks to an early goal from Corey Jenkins before Ian Traylor turned his man and found the back of the net just 12 minutes later.
Ahead of the fixture, Yakubu stressed the importance of player fitness".
“Fitness is massive, especially this time of year”.
“It’s obviously family time for everyone however at the same time we’re professionals and we got to look after ourselves”.
"We’ve also got to make sure we’re in our best position to take advantage, as at this time of the year you see many teams that take advantage of those who slip up”.
Also, Kieran Lewis added” We always know if we start games well then we’re always be in a strong position to get a result. We know that Wednesday is going to be another tough contest as every game in this league is difficult. However, if we play as a team and work hard on our day we can beat anyone”.
