Dan Summerfield made his 100th Merthyr Town FC appearance following Tuesday night’s defeat at home to Hayes & Yeading in the BetVictor Southern League Premier South.

Summerfield spent 3 seasons at the Martyrs from 2013 before leaving to study a university degree at Birmingham University.

The right sided defender is an accomplished player who can play anywhere across the back four which has seen him represent the likes of Swansea City, Newport County, Halesowen and Stratford Town in his career.

He was also part of the league winning team that won the Southern League South & West Division under former manager Steve Jenkins back in 2014.

The talented full back re-joined the club at the start of this season from JD Cymru Premiership side Penybont whom are playing in the top tier of Welsh Football.

Speaking on making 100 appearances for the club, the 24-year-old said” I’m very happy to finally reach 100 appearances. I’m very proud to have played so many games for a club of this size, with such a good fan base. When I joined in 2013 I did very well to cement my place in the team at a young age and racked up a lot of games in my first 2 seasons. Thankfully I’ve had a chance to come back to the club and get past that 100- appearance mark, and hopefully there’s many more to come”.
