GAVIN WILLIAMS ON MTFC FITNESS LATEST AHEAD OF POOLE TIE

The Martyrs entertain Poole Town in BetVictor Southern League Premier South on Saturday afternoon at Black Gold Stadium. Merthyr however, have received additional injury concerns ahead of the fixture.

Talented full back Lewis Binns hasn’t made a Martyrs appearance this season after suffering a hernia injury through Merthyr’s pre-season schedule. This requires an operation which will see Lewis out of action for another 6-7 weeks.

In addition to that, Kerry Morgan is expected to have lengthy surgery on a knee operation which will see the 31-year old side-lined for a large proportion of the season.

Returning Dan Summerfield has also picked up a nasty injury which requires treatment after undertaking ligament damage. This will require Dan to be out for another 2-3 weeks meaning he will miss the rest of this month’s fixtures.

Adam Davies this week has pulled up with a minor groin injury. He is likely to be back in action within the next two weeks.

Finally, Eliot Richards, Ben Swallow, Kyle Patten and Ryan Prosser are all suffering with slight knocks however are in contention for Saturday’s game.

Manager Gavin Williams told merthyrtownfc.co.uk “With a number of players unavailable due to a variety of injuries, we are hoping to bring in a new addition on loan by the weekend. This is important ahead of a busy Christmas period”.
