As we look towards our final few weeks of preparations before our FA Cup fixture and first league game at the end of the month, we are doing as much as we can ensure we are match-fit and ready to go when them dates come around.
Some unfortunate news reached us this week regarding, club captain, Adam Davies. Adam sadly suffered a serious injury during a training session earlier on in pre-season which will rule him out for a lengthy spell. Myself, the club and Adam are working on the best route for his recovery.
Adam will continue to be our official club captain, however Ismail Yakubu will become our matchday captain for our 2020/21 fixtures, with Lewis Binns being appointed the new Vice-Captain.
Everyone at the football club wishes Adam a safe and speedy recovery.
In regards to our pre-season so far, the boys are looking sharp, and that’s always a positive, especially with us being in difficult circumstances regarding our limitations to play friendlies. The boys from last season have come back stronger and hungrier which is great to see!
I feel we have added in the right areas, and we are still looking to add a couple more signings before the season gets going. I feel it’s important that we make the right signings though, and ensure that both the club and the player are suited.
After a two-week trial, we can confirm that Eliot Richards has agreed terms with a higher-league club. Myself and everyone at the Football Club would like to thank Eliot for his commitment and service to the club over his two spells with us, and we wish Eliot all the very best in his next adventure.
Thank you to all our supporters for your continued support, and I look forward to welcoming you back to Merthyr Town Football Club when it is safe to do so.
