Merthyr Town Women travel to Coed Duon Dragons on Sunday afternoon in their opening league fixture of the Welsh Women’s Football League and after a superb pre-season manager Ryan Davies has expressed his excitement ahead of this weekends game. “I’m extremely excited ahead of Sunday, we’ve had a brilliant pre-season so we’d love to keep the momentum going.

Having only been in charge for just under month, Davies has made some key re-signings in Jess Slater, Kate Allen, Morgan Evans and Ffion Bright and has managed to take his team through a tough pre-season campaign but insists his players must be ready for the big kick off on Sunday. “Coed Duon are a newly promoted side with talented players so we’ve got to make sure we’re at it from minute one to minute 90. With both sides looking strong coming into the game it’s set up to be a very good competitive fixture”.

Finally, Davies told us his targets ahead of the fixture by saying “All pre-season we’ve said we will take one game at a time but if we can start with a big 3 points on Sunday followed by a good performance to match it, I’ll be more than pleased”.
