Following the recent communication with members indicating that it was the intention to bring forward the election process for selecting Board members, further detailed information will be sent out by the Election Committee later this week requesting nominations.
The timeline for the process will now specify the deadline for the return of nominations by 27th November 2020.
If an election is required (provided there are more nominations than places on the Board available) ballot papers will be issued to members on 7th December 2020. Votes must then be returned by Monday 4th January 2021 and the count will take place that evening, after the Soccalot draw has been made.
Another milestone was reached last weekend when the on-line 50/50 draw that has been so successfully run each week since the initial lock down back in March (for 31 consecutive weeks!) passed the £3,000 mark. That’s a fantastic effort by Bethan Hurley and we are sure that all of our supporters will be grateful for her amazing efforts.
It’s also been 15 years since the Friends of Merthyr started running the very successful weekly Soccalot draw and we would also like to extend our gratitude for this thankless task that is often taken for gratitude by everyone, but over the years this has been a lifeline for the Club and long may it continue. Although the lock down’s have hit sales because many of the outlets that sell the tickets were forced to shut, the development of the on-line ‘Buy Now’ click and play facility has been really popular.
We would also like to thank all of our supporters who have taken part in both draws, especially during the lock down periods. This is an extremely challenging time for the Club, and all of the efforts made to raise funds helps the board to concentrate on the Clubs ultimate survival.
The Club’s hospitality and events staff are organising a socially distanced Christmas Grotto and everyone is invited to experience this magical time for families throughout December. Enjoy a meal and drink which is included in the price plus presents, prizes and letters that will be sent to the North Pole. Bookings must be made in advance to comply with the NHS track and trace requirements by phoning Ann-Marie on 07487 717824 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are many people doing things behind the scenes at the Club who all deserve a special thank you as we take this opportunity to focus on getting more supporters involved with the club. Do you ever think “I don’t have much that I could offer”, but all we ask is a few precious hours of your time.
A major task that we are currently facing are the replacement of the damaged seats in the Lyn Jones grandstand. Julian Axhorn has already started the removal of the damaged seats and prior to this he had commissioned the replacement seats from Griffin Park the former home of Brentford Football Club. We are now appealing for help from anyone with basic maintenance skills to help fit the reclaimed seats into position. If you can help with this important task in any way please get in contact with the Club.
