Match Preview | Didcot Town vs. Merthyr Town

Merthyr Town make the trip to the Loop Meadow Stadium on Tuesday night as they face Didcot Town in the Southern League Premier South (7.45pm).

The Martyrs head into the game looking to put right the wrongs following their 4-1 home defeat to Gosport Borough on Saturday.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT

Manager Jamie Heapy, also associated as 'Mr Didcot', has made an incredible 853* club appearances as a player and was captain of the 2005 FA Vase-winning team. He was previously joint manager of Didcot with another club legend in Ian Concannon before continuing his coaching experience at Banbury United. Returned as a manager in his own right for 2019/20.

The assistant manager of The Railwaymen is Paul Bedwell. 'Bedders' returned to Didcot as assistant manager to Jamie Heapy. He is formerly the manager at Milton United and is another former Didcot player.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR

Having been promoted to the Southern League Premier South this season, The Railwaymen haven’t enjoyed a promising start to the campaign. With just one win in eight games, that coming in a 1-0 victory over Winchester City earlier this month, they sit third from bottom in the table, three points clear of winless Swindon Supermarine.

PAST MEETING | MERTHYR vs. DIDCOT

A memorable win for the Martyrs came back in November 2012 when goals from Matthew Harris, Jason Welsh and Nathan Davies sealed an impressive 3-0 home victory at Penydarren Park. The win took Danny Carter and Garry Sheppards’ men back into the play-off places in fourth place. Re-visit the clash here
