Match Preview | Merthyr Town vs. Plymouth Parkway
13 October 2023
Merthyr Town are hoping to continue their recent run of form as they return to Penydarren Park on Saturday to face Plymouth Parkway in the Southern League Premier South (3pm).
The Martyrs head into the weekend fixture on the back of winning their previous fixture against Dorchester Town, which saw Paul Michael’s side progress into the First Round Proper of the Isuzu FA Trophy.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | CLUB HISTORY
Plymouth Parkway was originally formed in 1988 by Stuart Cadmore. In their first season the club gained promotion and then moved to the Parkway Sports Club.
Last season, Parkway more than held their own in the Southern Premier South Division and after a difficult start, the club finished in the top 10 and established themselves as a step 3 footballing club.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT
The club is currently managed by Lee Hobbs. Hobbs’ journey with Parkway began during the 2016-17 season when he left his role as assistant manager at Bodmin to return to Bolitho Park. Since then, he has led the team to significant achievements, propelling them from the Southwest Peninsula League to the Southern Premier League South division.
PREVIOUS RESULTS
The last meeting of these two sides occurred in February of this year and resulted in late drama at Penydarren Park. Jack Crago scored in the fifth minute of injury time to hand Parkway a memorable win in South Wales.
